Art is a big part of Navajo culture and something the Navajo have even managed to profit from. It has also played a strong role in helping Navajo recover from The Long Walk. Music and praying has given them hope. Artists like Clarence Clearwater, for example, recall the Long Walk through their art. In Clarence’s case he remember it through his music by singing to tourists by the Grand Canyon Railway. Art plays a large part in Navajo religious ceremonies as well. During ceremonies, sand paintings are created to represent different Gods. After the ceremony they are destroyed. (Discover Navajo)
